If you are struggling to get your medication or shopping because you are shielding and are unable to leave the house, there is a local support group for Tavistock and the surrounding area. Please call 0800 046 5531

Our confidential telephone line – One Call 0345 450 3964 – is fully operational, day or night, 7 days a week.
Our clinics continue to maintain their regular lists and in addition, following the recent change in legislation we are now able to offer “at home abortion pills” for those women eligible for this abortion option. This refers to the use of telemedicine to deliver early medical abortion with the home use of mifepristone. Eligibility for this abortion option means the woman meets the safety criteria to allow for a medical abortion without a scan and is assessed during our consultation process. These “at home abortion pills” can be collected from our clinic (St Leonards Practice, Athelstan Road, Exeter,EX1 1SB) or sent to patients by post.

We’re still here
Please don’t feel that you can’t contact us if you are concerned about anything. We would recommend completing an eConsult (found here https://tavyside.webgp.com/) which will be responded to the same day if submitted before 16:30.
Please do not worry about calling us! We are here to help.
Many people are finding current measures in place a challenge, here’s a video for parental self care tips especially for those with a baby
Some inaccurate information has been circulating in the public domain regarding special ‘rescue packs’ for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as Asthma or COPD.
Patients will already have a COPD/Asthma rescue pack if they are in the cohort of patients that this is intended for. Patients are being advised to not contact their GP practice for a rescue pack if they have not had one before.
You are advised to manage your condition in the usual way and if you think you have COVID-19 symptoms, please contact 111 online.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update
The latest advice from Public Health England (PHE) and NHS England is for all GP Practices to push towards digital methods only during the outbreak of COVID-19.
We are now advising patients not to attend the Practice unless they have an appointment and to instead contact the Practice via telephone or by using eConsult.
The Clinicians will now be contacting all patients via telephone first and if they need to asses you in person, will offer you an on the day appointment.
As the number of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) positive patients in the UK is increasing we are going to temporarily change the way we provide our service. These changes have been made to ensure that we can continue to stay open and provide primary care to the Tavistock community, and also protect our patients and staff from possible exposure to Coronavirus.
We will transition to a system of initial telephone consultations. If issues can be resolved over the phone we will strive to do this. If you do need to be seen, and you have no risk factors for Coronavirus infection, we will arrange to see you that day in the surgery.
Thank you to all our patients for working with us to manage this unprecedented situation calmly and practically.
Dr Cathy Dunlop has recently returned from Italy. She is safe and well. The Italian coronavirus situation escalated while she was out there so she self isolated on her return. She has not had any contact with any members of Tavyside Health Centre staff or entered the Tavyside building.
We have planned for this eventuality and Dr Dunlop will continue to work from home to allow us to continue providing clinical care to the Tavistock community. She will work alone on the secure surgery computer system so all consultations will continue to be confidential.
As with all in the NHS we are having to adapt our working to continue our primary care service and keep our patients safe.
Please be patient with us while we do this.
In order to reduce the risk of spreading infections, we are encouraging patients to use eConsult in the first instance before booking into a face-to-face appointment. This could avoid you having to attend the Practice. Should you then need a face-to-face appointment, the GP will advise you.
Our aim is to do everything we can to keep our patients and our staff free of coronavirus and ensure we can keep our Practice open and functioning like normal and avoid closures for deep cleaning.
Help us help you by using eConsult! This service can be used from your home 24/7 and is accessible via our website or by clicking on the following link, all you need is internet- https://tavyside.webgp.com/
If submitted before 16:30, your query will be dealt with by one of our doctors on the day. If submitted after 16:30, you will be responded to by the end of the next working day.
eConsult is a secure, safe and is dealt with by one of OUR GP’s at Tavyside
